Blog Cleanup, working on alert service (Day 3)

  • by

I am getting kind of stuck on what to build. I know I want to build market analytics and hedging signals, but I am still working through what exactly that will look like. I am trying to take the approach of “build something for yourself”, because I actually could use something like this when giving advice to hedgers or in my own trading. However I think it is important to make daily progress no matter how small, so today I worked on the following:

  1. Cleaned up blog. I am running a basic wordpress blog, so there is a bunch of filler. I am working on cleaning that up and simplifying it. I don’t expect the website to be used much (users will not be interacting with the site for awhile), its more just to document my journey so it can be plain.
  2. I added values for price, MA, volume, and volume MA from the previous week. This way I can see changes overtime. For example, if the 20d MA volume is higher today than a week ago, I know volume is picking up steam. These type of time series are important, and I am just getting started.

This is what the current alert looks like. A lot of work to do.

To Do:

  1. Continue designing v1 of the grain marketing alerts system (automated email).
  2. Continue getting organized and getting comfortable with github.
  3. Continue cleaning up website.
